Our guests say –
“We had the loveliest stay at The Farm with Vanessa and Dave and will definitely be looking for the opportunity to return, as well as recommending to friends and family. The Bird Room was huge, delightful with an exceptionally comfortable bed and beautiful views from the window. The unusual breakfast ranks very high in my breakfast experiences and our hosts could not have been more generous or attentive. Vanessa and Dave were very happy to chat – and are interesting well-travelled people with knowledge of the area – as well as being perfectly happy to leave us to it. The open fires, both inside and out, add to the warm, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. This is a place where you can have peace and tranqulity, and independence – ‘glamping kitchen’ and cosy lounge. Or you can enjoy the company of our hosts and other guests. Perfect options. In a gorgeous location with beautiful gardens and birds. All in all, definitely went far beyond my expectations of a nice place to stay. Thanks so much to you both.” – Genevieve, UK. September 2015
“What a fantastic stay we had at the Farm. Vanessa and Dave were so personable and were such gracious hosts. We loved learning more about British culture and sharing life experiences with them and other guests. Dave does an amazing breakfast. The house and outdoor spaces were beautiful. Fresh produce from the garden for breakfast with their own eggs and Vanessa’s homemade preserves and gourmet flapjacks. Well stocked kitchen for guest use. Such a peaceful home. Easy access to hiking and Keswick activities but away from the bustle of the town. They have our highest accolades. We definitely would return.” – Gerald & Marilyn, USA. September 2015
“We stayed at this wonderfully quirky and holistic gem in August of this year when we really needed a little TLC. We got just that and lots more. It’s a home away from home with peacefulness and gentleness on a grand scale. From our beautiful bedroom with its huge bathroom and fabulous countryside views to the wonderfully warm welcome which was especially appreciated given the awfulness of the weather when we arrived, Dave and Vanessa provide a niche market establishment which will be thoroughly appreciated by all who find their way there.
The gardens are designed to excite those interested in nature and good, home grown organic food. The facilities in the outbuildings are fantastic and the dayroom/dining room calls to the soul. My young daughter curled up in an armchair in front of the fire for an hour reading a book she’d found on a bookshelf. That was after she’d gone out collecting the eggs. You can’t get much more comfortable than that.
We took away beautiful photos, amazing organic food and treasured memories. Thank you” – Sinaed & Alicia, Republic of Ireland. August 2015
“Absolutely wonderful stay with Vanessa and Dave at The Farm. The Farm is exactly as advertised – is a very friendly and relaxed place where you can be as sociable or private as you like. I felt very welcome and was extremely well looked after, nothing was any trouble, from delicious breakfast, real fires, cups of tea & cake, stargazing, birdwatching, camp fire, proper ‘locals’ advice on where to go and what to do, through to crashing in front of the telly after a long walk! The facilities are great, unlike a ‘traditional’ B&B there is a guests kitchen, boot room, laundry etc etc. My room was very comfy, the best night’s sleep I’d had in ages and penty of hot water for a quick shower or long soak in the tub. And the views were amazing! I have visited the Lake District many times, but this is easily my favourite place I’ve been – and am looking forward to my next stay already!”- Becca, London. August 2015
“Vanessa really looked after us. We were pretty shattered when we arrived and they took care of us and settled us in. Their place was fantastic to see the Lake District from, and they have a lot of local knowledge to help. The bed was comfortable and they set the fire for our frozen Aussie bones to thaw out in the sitting room. The breakfast was good.” – Alby & Patricia, Australia. August 2015
